April 28, 2023: Roofs and Sewer Lines

Image
Much progress: Mario and the crew are putting up the roofs, while Stein is prepping the sewer lines for first inspection. Roof over the Great Room from below . . .  . . . from above . . . . . . and from the street. Once framed, the crew attaches the sheeting, and then the roofing paper. Meanwhile, down at ground level, Stein shovels gravel around the PVC piping for the lowest sewer lines. While people work furiously, some neighbors watch in bemusement.

Spring fled for a day, but the rest of the roof trusses were put in place.

April 18, 2023: Raising the Roof Trusses

Image
Using the new lift, it's time to put in place some more roof trusses. A bundle of a half dozen is delivered to the top of the house.   It requires careful concentration at both ends. The first block is nailed into place. Then the truss has to be muscled in. The process is repeated with each of the six trusses. Each lines up with the preceding truss . . . . . . and then is nailed into place. By day's end, the trusses are in place.

April 17, 2023: Framing the Second Floor Rooms

Image
Mario and the crew frame out the second floor rooms. Brute force is sometimes required.   Nelson makes sure the connection is tight. Meanwhile, Stein checks out the reach of the new lifter -- 55 feet.

New Roofs: April 6, 2023

New roofs are going in. Over the kitchen. And out to the front.                                                                                                                        Inside, the big steel beams will make for an open kitchen. Views from above: over the kitchen; out over the Great Room; and out to the front. Strong trusses to support the snow load.  441" so far this year. New walls keep going up. Stairway landing.
