December 21, 2022: Drain

 With an arctic cold front moving in, Bud, Stein and Nelson installed the first half of the storm drain around the outside of the footings.

Slotted plastic pipe is used.

The pipe is laid down on fabric which sits on the gravel next to the footings.

                                                                                                             

The drain pipe goes over the copper water line.

Then gravel is poured over the fabric and the pipe.

Some of the gravel is frozen.

Nelson spreads the gravel over the top of the pipe.

Finally, the fabric is closed over the gravel with the pipe inside.  The fabric and gravel should keep out any dirt, with only water infiltrating into the pipe.
