1615 Chaps Way in Steamboat Springs

On a snowy Monday, the roof trusses arrive from the Montrose factory. The lift --rented from Wagner for this job -- is used to move the trusses off the truck. The second floor has to be framed out before the trusses can be raised, so the trusses need to be stored on-site for now.

 With a little more room to operate, now that some of the snow has been cleared, it is a little easier to move materials around on the site. Once the lift is in place, Mario and Nelson unload the wood.

  With all the second floor joists in place, it is time to lay down the decking. Mario readies the next piece. Nelson nails it in place. The decking looks secure from above . . . . . . and below. Meanwhile, Bud clears out some of the snow to make room for more materials, and has backfilled around the new footings for the pillars.

                                                                                                                                                 

 Finally, with a break in the weather, it is time to pour the footings for the various pillars.               Sunny day makes for an easy pour. Some manual adjustments are necessary.

  High winds shut down everything yesterday, but today the sun is out. Stein obtained a lift for the project. A little hard to maneuver. The long beams are the rafters for the second level floor. The lift brings the beams into place. Nelson fastens them to the walls.                  Meanwhile, the first steel is in place.

 After a brief hiatus while your intrepid reporter was out of the country,  there are now exterior and interior walls standing. (Lots of snow while I was gone.)
